The most interesting part of the documentary on eyesight I watched was the parts regarding jelly fish. I had not ever considered animals in light of this project, yet jelly fish seems an obvious one to look at. Obviously, jelly fish lack organs and a brain, but they do have light sensitive cells that mimic the pre-evolution of eyes. I think that it is really fascinating to see how animals without actual eyes see. It is also fascinating to view how such animals react to different colours of light in reference to what the animal associates that light to. For example, green light mimics the light that surrounds them on their home of the sea bed, while purple, ultraviolet light, stimulates an escape response due to the high energy levels in the light. These facts inspire me to create a response piece with the inclusion of the fish and the varying lights.
